Fraser, James Fowler

Biography: Son of Thomas Fraser; born Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, 14 March 1893. M.A., 1914; M.B., Ch.B. 1922. Private, U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1910. Mobilized, 1914. Commissioned, August 1915; attached to 2nd Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Wounded 25th September 1915 at Loos - after period of recuperation re-joined 3rd Battalion; administrative duties, S.O. training, August 1916-January 1917; Signal Officer, February 1917-Summer 1918. Served-France, February 1915-October 1915; UK, August 1916-October 1917; Ireland, November 1917-Summer 1918. Final rank, Lieutenant.

Also served in the Second World War as an officer in the RAMC at Dalkeith and then in India in various posts, acquiring the rank of Colonel by the end of the war.
