Biography: Son of John Fleming; born 20 April 1876. Arts, 1891-92. 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Volunteer Battalion Aberdeenshire Artillery, 1896. Mobilized Major, August 1914. Attached 1st Highland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, later, Officer Commanding, 255th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Served-Home, 1914-15 ; Flanders, France, April 1915-April 1918. Prisoner of War, Germany, April-December 1918. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel. D.S.O., January 1918. Two mentions in despatches, December 1915, December 1917.
