Biography: Son of Alexander Cowie; born Ordiquhill, Banffshire, 29 December 1871. M.A., 1892; M.B., 1895. Commissioned, R.A.M.C. (Territorial), April 1909. Mobilized as Captain, attached to 4th London Field Ambulance (Territorial), 4 August 1914. Served-Home, 1914-15; France, March 1915-November 1916. Invalided out of service. Final rank, Major. Mentioned in despatches, June 1916.
