Biography: Son of Alexander Cowie; born Gamrie, Banffshire, 8 February 1896. Arts, 1914-15. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, April 1915; commissioned, 6th Gordon Highlanders, December 1915. Served-Home, 1915-17; France, August 1917-February 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant.
