Biography
Politican. Born probably Hanover, 1703. Family moved to England with George I, 1714. Married Emanuel Scrope Howe 1719. Family had close relations with the royal family, rumoured that her mother was the King's mistress and she was the King's illegitimate daughter (rumour now discredited by historians). Travelled to Barbados 1732, after her husband's appt as governor. Lady of the bedchamber to Augusta, princess of Wales 1745. Manager of the Howe's political interests in Nottingham. Family's influence declined after election of 1758. Visited Germany 1763, again with the princess dowager 1770. Died London 1782.
