Biography

born Aberdeen 1720, attended Aberdeen high school and B.A Marischal Coll. 1737, licensed to preach 1743, ordained 1745 but not a successful minister, moved to Alloa 1753, more successful as a minister there, D.D. University of Glasgow 1760, moved to Monkhill St, London 1760, resigned ministry in London 1782, retired to Hampshire, moved to Bath 1792, died Bath 1796. Brother of Sir William.
