Biography

Either: John Craig d.1620, matriculated Univ. Of Frankfurt 1573, M.D. Univ. Of Basel 1580, Professor of Maths and Logic Frankfurt 1580, returned to Edinburgh 1582, appointed principal mediciner (first physician) to James VI 1603, fellowship of the College of Physicians, Lond.,1604. Or: John Craig, d.1655 (nephew of the elder John Craig), matriculated Univ. of Helmstedt 1605, went on to Padua 1607, one of the two first physicians to James Vi and I, 1616, fellow of the College of Physicians, Lond. 1617, attended James I in his final illness in 1625. Not appointed as first physician to Charles I but physician-in-ordinary 1635.
