Biography

Professor Buckland was appointed to Aberdeen's Chair in Accountancy in 1993. Before then he worked at the Universities of York, England and the University of Aston, England, after degree study at the universities of Cambridge and York.

Research Interests

Longstanding interests in small and growing firm financing, in IPOs and privatisation programmes.  Latterly researching the regulation and performance of privatised utilities. A range of accountancy and finance students under supervision, presently in banking, financial regulation and investment management.

Risk and regulation in utilities; university finance and strategy; markets microstructure.

Teaching Responsibilities

Professor Buckland presently delivers teaching in Finance, Risk and Investment at level 1, in Financial Markets and Regulation at level 2 and in Securities and Investment Regulation and Practice at taught postgraduate level.  He supervises MSc and PhD dissertation work in finance.

Admin Responsibilities

In addition to being Head of School at the Business School, Roger is Chair of the Trustees of Rocking Horse Nursery, the trust delivering childcare services to the university community at Aberdeen
