The Economics Department has a strong track record of PhD supervison in applied economics. In the Research Assessment Exercise results of 2008, 100% of Economics research, was judged to be of international quality. The Department's Postgraduate Research Convenor is Professor Ioannis Theodossiou. We can offer supervision in the following areas:

Economics has 1+3 (+CASE) ESRC recognition for doctoral research through collaboration with the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics (SGPE). Additionally, the SGPE offers a one year MSc in Economics, through which students develop the state-of-the-art analytical and quantitative techniques required to undertake research for a PhD.
