UPDATE: The University of Aberdeen has successfully bid for Turing funding to cover activities taking place in academic year 2021/22. Details of how students can apply for Turing funding can be found below.
Please note that the UK's participation in the Erasmus programme will continue until the end of any currently active projects. Therefore, students can continue to participate in exchange through the Erasmus Programme until May 2023, when our final project ends.
What is the Turing Scheme?
Generally speaking, the Turing Scheme is being introduced to replace the UK's participation in the Erasmus Programme. The Scheme will be launched in 2021 for an initial funding period of September 2021 to August 2022. The Scheme offers funding to UK universities to support outgoing students on study exchange and work placements abroad. There is no funding to support incoming students or incoming/outgoing staff under the Scheme, in contrast to the Erasmus Programme.
How can students access funding?
- Students due to participate in International Exchange in 2021/22 have been emailed with a link to our Turing Funding application. If you haven't received your email, please contact email@example.com.
- Students looking to undertake a work placement outside of Erasmus Programme countries BUT within the framework of their degree (ie Languages, Industrial Placement, Project students in Chemistry or Engineering) should contact their Go Abroad Tutor in the first instance. Your Go Abroad Tutor will notify the Go Abroad team of any eligible activities, and we will email relevant students a link to our Turing Funding application.
- Students looking to undertake a work placement outside of Erasmus Programme countries AND outside the framework of their degree (ie summer/graduate work placements) should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
