Postgraduate Programmes - January 2023 Intake

Starting your studies in January is perfect if you're still considering your options, you need more time to secure funding or you're looking for a new challenge in the new year. The University of Aberdeen understands that flexibility is key for postgraduate study so we have a number of degree programmes available with a January 2023 start date.

University of Aberdeen Community Discount

The University of Aberdeen Community Discount is a 20% discount available to all residents of the north-east of Scotland including Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray, who plan to apply, or who have applied already, to programmes with a January 2023 start date.

Important Dates for January Start

  •  Deadline for International applications: Wednesday 9 November
  •  Deadline for UK applications: Monday 5 December
  •  Deadline for online programmes: Monday 5 December

English Language

The University's Language Centre offers a pre-sessional English language programme for students whose degrees start in January. 

International Students

If you require a Student visa, you will need:

  • CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from the University: We recommend that you accept the offer and send documents to satisfy conditions no later than Monday 12 December. A CAS number will allow you to apply for your visa.
  • ATAS clearance: For certain programmes, you will need to have ATAS clearance. If you are required to apply for ATAS clearance, this will be indicated in the offer of admission. The ATAS application can be found at Applications can be submitted 6 months before the programme start date and can be submitted while the offer is conditional.
  • TB test: Some applicants are required to take a TB (Tuberculosis) test before submitting the visa application. The test is valid for 6 months and the test certificate must be valid when you submit the visa application. More information about this can be found at
