The programme combines degree-level study with professional training, providing you with the opportunity to study towards the globally-recognised qualification CFA Levels 1 and 2 as part of the MSc. There are alternative routes for those who do not wish to do CFA or decide to do only level 1. The CFA exams open up the investment management professional world and combining this with an MSc Finance will provide you with all the tools you need for a successful career in financial management.

This programme will provide a thorough grounding in theoretical and practical aspects of finance, economics and investment for those who have already embarked on their finance career and those aspiring to enter a finance profession.

What You'll Study

The programme, which runs in runs in January, March, July and October, is divided into three blocks of approximately eight months of study. The programme begins with the core disciplines underpinning finance and then builds on these, finishing with a project or dissertation as the capstone of your study and achievement. You have the option to study for CFA level 1 and 2 exams with preparatory learning materials delivered by Fitch Learning.

How You'll Study

Learning and teaching are delivered in an innovative way via the University of Aberdeen Online bespoke online study environment. The study environment is carefully designed to be secure, reliable and user friendly, where all of the learning materials are stored and where communication with your tutors and fellow students takes place.

If you choose to incorporate the CFA preparation into your studies, you will benefit from training provided by Fitch Learning. CFA learning and exam preparation will be completed on the Fitch Learning online learning platform. Although the preparation materials will be studied separately within a different platform, studies with Fitch Learning will link directly to the MSc Finance programme.

This programme is open to graduates from any discipline, and does not require business or management study to be completed at undergraduate level.

Our minimum entry requirement for this programme is a degree at 2:2 (lower second class) UK Honours level (or a degree from a non-UK institution which is judged by the University to be of equivalent worth).
