University of Aberdeen
Founded in 1495, the University of Aberdeen is one of the UK's most internationally distinguished universities. It has a student population of around 16,000 and a large international community of students drawn from 120 different countries.
History and Excellence
The University has an excellent reputation for teaching quality and research, and, over the years, five Nobel Prizes have been awarded for work carried out or begun at Aberdeen. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) assessed 89% of Aberdeen’s research activity as being of international quality and 55% as either ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
With a student population of over 50,000, Aberdeen has plenty to offer in the way of entertainment. From art galleries and theatres to museums and libraries, Aberdeen is a hidden gem of culture and entertainment, right in the heart of North East Scotland.
Aberdeen has everything a city in the UK should have and more. You'll find all the major retail chains in Aberdeen, with four large city-centre shopping malls, including the piazza-style Academy and new Union Square complex. From high street stores and designer boutiques to quirky independent outlets and thrift shops, shopaholics will be delighted by the quantity and quality of places on offer.
Students will be accommodated in self-catered single study bedrooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are eating outlets on campus that students can use during the day.
