Leonel Ricardo Sosa Durán

MSc. in Petroleum Engineering(funded by CONACyT and Chevening)

Leonel Ricardo Sosa Durán

When I firstly considered studying a master’s degree, my first choice was the UK. After careful consideration,  my options were reduced to Aberdeen as it is known as the Oil and Gas capital of Europe.

So, I applied for the degree and got accepted by the University. But as I didn’t have enough resources I decided to ask for support from Mexican and British governments which sponsored my studies through the prestigious Chevening award and CONACyT scholarship for which I am very grateful to both countries.

After completing the different steps of the process I finally got one of the best news I have ever had in my life: I was about to begin my master’s degree studies in Petroleum Engineering in the University of Aberdeen.

Now that I have concluded my studies I can tell I made the right choice because Aberdeen gave me a new life, amazing friends from many countries, the greatest experiences of my life, cutting edge technical information and most importantly, Aberdeen gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizons.

Celia Gabriela Alvarez Campano

MSc in Human Nutricion (funded by CONACYT)

Celia Gabriela Alvarez CampanoWhy did you choose to study at the University of Aberdeen?

While I was looking for a university in the UK, I opted for the University of Aberdeen because it is ranked among the top universities at international level.  It has a multicultural environment and the staff are really helpful to applicants.

My main reason for choosing the University of Aberdeen was the fact that the Human Nutrition Masters Programme has different approaches in which the students can specialise and is run together with the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health I consider it an invaluable experience being able to study in a pioneer institution that has been working for over a century in a subject that I am passionate about.

Why did you choose to study nutrition?

I strongly believe that nutrition and diet are fundamental in the maintenance and recovery of health. For that reason I decided to get a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, which allowed me to acquire aptitudes and skills in different areas from community work to individual clinical practice.

Since then I have had a particular interest in research and the relationship between specific food compounds and health. My daily work as a dietitian affirmed my goal of pursuing a postgraduate degree in order to deepen my knowledge and contribute to improve the care of patients.

Juan Manuel Osorio Hernandez PhD

Geology and Petroleum Geology (funded by CONACYT)
