International Undergraduate Scholarship

As part of our commitment to attracting the very best students to join our diverse international community, we are delighted to offer the University of Aberdeen International Undergraduate Scholarship. This scholarship is worth one year’s tuition fee and is open to all international undergraduate students studying for 4 years or more at the University of Aberdeen (excludes Medicine). 

What does this mean?

  • If you are an international student entering into an undergraduate degree programme of at least four years duration we will offer you a scholarship equivalent to the tuition fee for your fourth year (excludes medicine)

This scholarship is in the form of a £2,000 tuition fee discount and is open to self-funding students who are nationals of Vietnam, China, and African countries, and are classed as international for tuition fee purposes.

Undergraduate

Jim Duncan Scholarship

  • There are two Jim Duncan Scholarships available. They are open to applicants who have decided to go to the University of Aberdeen to undertake an undergraduate degree starting in September 2017 after having had a break in their education, or who are resuming their undergraduate studies at the University after an interruption, and require financial assistance.
  • Deadline: 19th of May 2017

The SWSF Scholarship - Undergraduate

  • South West Shopfittings are delighted to offer an annual scholarship for UK based undergraduates and postgraduates of £500 to help with living expenses, materials or accommodation.
  • Deadline: 31st of March 2018
Postgraduate Research and Taught

Aberdeen Alumni Discount

  • 20% discount on one year of Postgraduate study. Applies to to all taught Masters programmes or first year of PhD Study

Commonwealth Scholarships

  • Commonwealth Scholarships are awarded to students from countries of the British Commonwealth. Applications should be made to the Commonwealth Scholarship Agency in the student's own country.

James Carnegie Scholarship

  • There is one James Carnegie Scholarship available. The scholarship offers £2,000 per annum for the duration of the postgraduate degree course.
  • Deadline: 31st of May 2017

John Reid Trust Scheme 1959

  • The Trust exists to assist distinguished Aberdeen University graduates, preferably with Honours, and preferably in Arts, which failing, in Science, to continue their studies in Arts or in any other branches of higher learning at any institution outside Scotland.
  • Deadline: 31st of July 2017

Business School Merit Scholarships

  • The Business School is offering 25 £5,000 Merit Scholarships for self-funded Masters students.
  • Deadline: 22nd of May 2017

Carlaw-Ogston Master of Music Scholarship

  • One Carlaw-Ogston Master of Music Scholarship is available for students undertaking a full-time 12 months Master of Music (MMus) postgraduate degree at the University of Aberdeen, beginning in the academic year 2017-18.
  • Deadline: 7th of July 2017

Development Trust International Taught Postgraduate Scholarship 2017/18

  • The scholarship is valued at £1,000 which will contribute towards tuition fees. 3 scholarships are available.
  • Deadline: 1st of May 2017

Law School Merit Scholarships

  • There are three Law School Merit Scholarships available. The scholarships each offer £6,000 in total for one year. This is part of the Law School Scholarships programme.
  • Deadline: 30th of June 2017

OPITO Piper Alpha Memorial MSc Safety Scholarships

  • OPITO, the skills organisation for oil and gas, is offering two OPITO Piper Alpha Memorial MSc Safety Scholarships. Each scholarship is valued at £6,000 for the one year duration of the MSc in Safety and Reliability Engineering for Oil and Gas degree and will contribute towards the students' maintenance costs. This is part of the School of Engineering Postgraduate Scholarships Programme.
  • Deadline: 30th of June 2017

The LRF MSc Safety and Reliability Engineering Scholarship

  • The Lloyd's Register Foundation (LRF) which supports the Centre for Safety and Reliability Engineering within the School of Engineering will fund one scholarship of £15,000. This will contribute towards fees and maintenance costs. This is part of the School of Engineering Postgraduate Scholarships Programme.
  • Deadline: 30th of June 2017

The Maitland and Halldis Mackie Scholarship

  • There is one Maitland and Halldis Mackie Scholarship available and it is valued at £2,500. Maitland and Halldis Mackie were both graduates and long term supporters of the University of Aberdeen. Dr Mackie was owner and Chairman of Mackie's of Scotland, one of the best known businesses in Scotland and was a very popular Rector of the University of Aberdeen. This is part of the School of Engineering Postgraduate Scholarships Programme.

University of Aberdeen Law School Scholarships

  • There are two University of Aberdeen Law School Scholarships available. Each scholarship offers £1,500 towards full time Home, RUK or International tuition fees for one year. This is part of the Law School Scholarships Programme.

Postgraduate Research

Boehringer Ingelheim PhD Scholarships

  • Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine offers studentships to outstanding young scientists who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately three years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.

EPSRC - Research Council Awards

  • The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) operate to meet the needs of industry and society by working in partnership with universities to invest in people and scientific discovery and innovation. The knowledge and expertise gained maintains a technological leading edge, builds a strong economy and improves people's quality of life.

Ogston Postgraduate Music Scholarship

  • The Ogston Postgraduate Music Scholarship will be awarded to students undertaking a PhD within the Department of Music at the University of Aberdeen in any area of music beginning in the academic year 2017-18.
