International Masters Scholarship

As part of our commitment to attracting the very best students to join our diverse international community, we are delighted to offer the Aberdeen International Masters Scholarship. This scholarship is in the form of a £2,000 tuition fee discount and is open to self-funding students who are nationals of Vietnam, China, and African countries, and are classed as international for tuition fee purposes.

The James Henry Scott Scholarship 

Applications are invited for the James Henry Scott Scholarship, starting in September 2018 (the academic year 2018/19).

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.  The scholarship is open to candidates who satisfy the following conditions:

  • Students must be commencing a one-year full time Master of Science degree (MSc) in one of the following degree programmes at the University of Aberdeen in September 2018:

MSc Environmental Science

MSc Environmental Management

MSc Environmental Pollution and Remediation

MSc Environmental and Ecological Sciences

MSc Environmental and Forest Management

Students must be coming to study at the University of Aberdeen directly from the People’s Republic of China or Hong Kong.  Please note that applicants currently domiciled in the UK will not be considered. 

The scholarship will cover:

  • Full International Postgraduate Tuition Fees for the 2018/19 academic year
  • Maintenance award of £12,180

  • A CV including grades achieved to date, and a covering letter.  (Please include your Application ID number in the covering letter).
  • A personal statement detailing what you plan to do once you complete your studies.
  • A copy of your Offer of Admission for one of the eligible MSc degree programmes listed above.
  • An academic Reference on your academic achievement

You will be told whether or not your application has been successful by email/post at the correspondence address you give us no later than30 June 2018.  If your application has been successful the award will be subject to your admission to the university.


 

Saltire Scholarship

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships is a programme of scholarships offered by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities. Our chosen scholars are people who aspire to become influential leaders in their future careers. They have wide ranging interests outside their studies and a desire to broaden their personal and academic experience in Scotland.

Scholarships are available to citizens of the following countries: Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Pakistan or USA. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a citizen of Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan and USA. 
  • Have obtained an offer of a place to study full-time at the University of Aberdeen. On-line and distance learning courses are not eligible for funding
  • Preferably have a place on a one-year postgraduate taught masters
  • Have not previously completed undergraduate studies at a Scottish University

China Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship

Summary

The CSC Scholarship is a scholarship programme for Chinese PhD students, who will take a full PhD at the University of Aberdeen.

Description

The CSC Scholarship is open to Chinese nationals wishing to study for a full-time PhD in any discipline at the University of Aberdeen. Applicants apply to the CSC for a monthly stipend as well as international airfares. The University may provide successful applicants with a tutition waiver scholarship.

Criteria

  • Applicants must be citizens of the People’s Republic of China at the time of application. 
  • Applicants for a full PhD programme must have a Master’s degree and must be under the age of 35. 
  • The relevant academic entry requirements must be fulfilled, including a high level of English language proficiency and a Master's degree. 
  • Applicants must hold an offer of acceptance from the University of Aberdeen
  • Applicants should satisfy the CSC selection criteria by completing the CSC Application Form and the CSC Employer Reference Form. 
  • CSC scholars must return to China upon completion of their research.

There is one James Carnegie Scholarship available. The scholarship will provide £2,000 per annum towards the students' maintenance costs for the duration of the postgraduate degree course, whether that is a one year Masters, PhD (3 years) or Master by Research leading to a PhD (4 years).

John Reid Trust Scheme 1959

The Trust exists to assist distinguished Aberdeen University graduates, preferably with Honours, and preferably in Arts, which failing, in Science, to continue their studies in Arts or in any other branches of higher learning at any institution outside Scotland.

School of Law PhD Merit Scholarship

The School of Law PhD Merit Scholarship covers full fees for one PhD student starting on-campus study in September 2018 and in addition will offer a yearly stipend of £10,000 per year over three years of study. The primary basis for this award will be academic merit.
