Yoyo Wallet Loyalty & Reward Scheme
- What is Yoyo Wallet
Yoyo wallet is the University’s mobile loyalty app that lets you pay for food, drinks and other shop stuff from the Bear Essentials shop on your phone. The app is a bit like Apple Pay - you securely link it with your bank card, and can then pay for your coffee in our cafes or a meal from the Works bar at Hillhead, and instead of using your bank card, or cash you can just scan your personalised QR code from the app. That’s it!
Yoyo makes everything easier, you’ll never have to dig around your pockets looking for loose change or your paper stamp cards. Every time you buy a hot drink you are automatically give a stamp to your digital loyalty card… 10 drinks later you’ll be enjoying a tasty drink on us!
And if that wasn’t good enough…Yoyo runs deals and discounts throughout the year based on all our venues across campus.
AND… just like a Boots Advantage card you collect points for choosing to eat and drink with us. Loyalty points can be collected on most food items - £1 spent = 100 points which can be saved up and spent on different items across campus through the “Your Rewards” section in the app. The more you points you collect, the better the reward you can claim!
Still not convinced? Download Yoyo to try it out, and in Welcome week you could be sitting in one our cafes with your feet up enjoying a free hot drink on us!
- Yoyo Security and Personal Data
We know your personal and financial information is important. That’s why none of your card details are held on your phone or by Yoyo – they’re held under lock & key by our super secure Payment Service Providers (PSP).
All card information inputted is immediately encrypted and passed directly to Yoyo's PSP (Payment Service Provider) who are fully regulated and compliant with UK regulation regarding personal financial information.
Yoyo's PSP sends back a randomised token which is used to request payment - this is called tokenisation and this fancy name actually means that none of your card details are ever stored on Yoyo's servers. The card details are protected and subject to the same levels of security banks employ and is fully regulated. Losing the smartphone or indeed someone other than the owner, however unlikely, gaining access to the smartphone, cannot access any bank detail.
To increase protection around the account, Yoyo also uses 2 additional measures:
- Dynamically changing QR code
The QR code on the home screen of your app changes every 30 seconds when your phone is online (i.e. connected to WiFi or 3G/4G). When your device is offline, the QR code will change up to three times before it needs to be refreshed. This means that if someone takes a picture of the QR code on your home screen they will not be able to use it as the QR code will have changed by the time they get to the till. 30 seconds is quite a short time!
- Passcode / Fingerprint authentication
When you register on Yoyo, you will be asked to create a 4-digit passcode to protect your account. This triggers finger authentication if your device is equipped with this feature. Simply put, no one can access your account without your consent or knowledge -even if you lose your phone or if it is stolen.
Yoyo does not sell your personal information (name, email addresses or date of birth) to third parties, and treats your information very carefully.
