Who Are We?
Old Aberdeen medical practice formed from the amalgamation of University medical practice and Spital medical practice. Old Aberdeen medical practice caters for the student population of Aberdeen University and the general population of the surrounding area.
The practice comprises of 6 GPs, 2 practice nurses, 2 treatment nurses, phlebotomist and a full complement of secretarial and reception staff. attached community staff include health visitor, district nurse, community nurse, midwife, CPN, psychology and psychiatry.
The practice aims to provide every patient with the most appropriate clinical care.

Appointments can be made by telephone or by calling in person. routine appointments are 10 minutes. if you have a complex problem or several issues you wish to discuss please schedule a double appointment. to ensure that the appointment system runs smoothly, try to arrive a few minutes early for your appointment. if you are unable to attend, please phone to rearrange or cancel the appointment. it is really important that you inform the practice if you cannot attend for your appointment. please see the reverse of this leaflet for opening hours
If you require a home visit, please telephone the surgery between 8.00am and 11.00am (if at all possible). it is important the duty doctor has as much information about the problem before attending so please be patient with the receptionists who will need to ask some questions relating to your medical situation.
Assistance Outwith Opening Hours
between 6.00pm and 8.00am Monday to Friday and at the weekend medical advice is available from NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24 . a trained nurse will be available to deal with your call and advice you on the best course of action or arrange for a doctor to see you if necessary. this number will be available via the Old Aberdeen medical practice answering machine.

remember travel issues need to be discussed well in advance of the travel dates. don’t leave it too late
Our nurses are well qualified with wide practical experience and can help with general advice, wound dressing, vaccinations, cervical smears, minor injuries, suture removals, ear syringing and other general nursing procedures.
The nurses can also advise on travel immunisations, diet, smoking, alcohol, stress management, counselling, breast awareness and health checks.
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by calling the dedicated prescription line on +44 (0)1224-551531 24 hours a day. prescriptions can also be ordered by post. prescriptions will be ready for collection in 2 working days. it's always best to request a prescription while you still have a few days supply left.
Change of Address
it is essential that you inform the practice immediately when you change your address.
Everything the practice does is confidential. the practice will not divulge information about you to anyone else without your prior consent.

If you have a comment, complaint or compliment about either your clinical care or any other aspect relating to the practice, you should talk to the practice manager or send a letter.
