On Thursday 15th at 6pm the Scottish final of Fame Lab will be broadcast on YouTube. Aberdeen has one finalist competing, Catriona Cunningham

Catriona is a research fellow in the Aberdeen Spinal Injury Research Team based in the Institute of Medical Sciences. Her research focusses on developing novel combination therapies for spinal cord injury repair. Catriona developed a passion for science communication during her PhD at the University of Manchester but took a few years to build up the confidence to apply for FameLab.

In her regional heat winning set, Catriona spoke about why cats react to catnip. For the Scottish final, she’s planning to discuss what causes pain and why it can be our friend. Catriona said: “Participating in the Fame Lab training and heat has been a fantastic experience. It’s really boosted my confidence in my public speaking skills.”
