The Aberdeen Bestiary, one of the most beautiful examples of its kind in the world, has left the UK for the first time since its creation more than 800 years ago to take centre stage at an exhibition in Los Angeles.

The bestiary is a vibrant and fascinating medieval book, which describes the beasts of the world, both real and fantastical, as well as birds and even rocks, bringing them to life for readers. Read the full article!

Our engineering students are among the top 20 teams in the UK aiming to reach the final of the Royal Academy of Engineering's Global Grand Challenge student competition. The team consisted of Lisa Rossi and Jason Main who were joined by lecturers Dominic Van Der A and Andrew Starkey.

"Meeting students from across all the UK was extremely beneficial as it gave us a chance to broaden our perspective about ideas and innovations which could help shape global issues and shape the future." Lisa Rossi, Team Leader

This month we're celebrating Aberdeen PRIDE, from Stonewall's 30th birthday, to the arrival of an amazing Equality Exhibition that you won't want to miss... (keep scrolling for event details!)

Stonewall are a worldwide support network for the LGBTQI+ community. They strive to empower individuals, transform institutions, and promote change, from legal reform to societal transformation. The University of Aberdeen is very excited to be a member of the Stonewall Diversity Champions Programme, and this month we're celebrating 30 years of Stonewall’s ground-breaking work!

Check out their website here, or take a look at their amazing Milestones Timeline for a history of lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality.

As well as this, Aberdeen's streets were painted with colour last Saturday (25th May), as Aberdeen's second ever Pride went into full swing!

An estimated 6000 people took to Union Street for the Parade, and among those were a few familiar faces from our own university family!

The Equality Exhibition

The Equality Council UK presents an inspiring and informative exhibition surrounding LGBTQI+ rights and racial equality.

The exhibition features a timeline of LGBTQI+ rights; (homosexuality was illegal in Scotland until as recently as 1980) and celebrates those who have worked, and are still working to ensure full equal rights are achieved.

MyAberdeen is getting another makeover! Following last summer's navigation upgrade we'll be introducing the 'Ultra Course View', providing a modernised, cleaner interface that's more mobile friendly. This will be trialed over the summer months with five schools (Business, Education, Law, LLMVC and Psychology).

Don't forget to share your views on this update via Inform, which is our framework for receiving feedback and forms the basis for many of our improvements to the student experience!
