Biography

Gavin join the University of Aberdeen in 2017 as an e-Learning Adviser based in the Centre of Academic Development and is part of the Senior e-Learning Team.  Main responsibilities include overseeing the development of the online courses and FutureLearn MOOCs.  He also supports the use of the Virtual Learning Environment Blackboard Learn and the video platform Panopto.  In 2021, Gavin became a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT). 

Previously, Gavin was an e-Learning Adviser at Robert Gordon University for almost 10 years working in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.  There, he was awarded in 2016 for Inspiration Support to Students, gained a PGCert “Higher Education in Learning and Teaching” and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Before moving into Higher Education, Gavin worked as an IT Instructor and an e-Learning Tutor at Aberdeen College (now NESCOL) for 6 years.
