Graduate Vacancies, Internships & Placements

Students have access to a wide range of vacancies (internships, placements, part-time jobs and graduate positions) via the CareerConnect system. All registered University of Aberdeen students automatically have access to the system and can opt to receive regular email alerts of opportunities relevant to them. The Careers and Employability Service advertises approximately 5,000 vacancies each academic year. Additional information and advice on finding graduate employment is also available. University of Aberdeen staff are also welcome to register to use CareerConnect. Register now.

Placements for University of Aberdeen Students

The Careers and Employability Service has a dedicated Work Placement Team who source placements, usually for Level 3 undergraduates. These are work experience placements, providing students with an opportunity to enhance their employability skills locally, nationally or internationally.

The Aberdeen Internship is  an award winning summer placement programme, exclusively for undergraduate students at the University of Aberdeen.  Interns complete a 10 week project within one of the University’s administrative departments, and undertake a programme of professional development, which concentrates on developing the Aberdeen Graduate Attributes. Successful completion of the Aberdeen Internship is an accredited activity on the student’s Enhanced Transcript.

Work-based Projects for Masters students (Making The Most of Masters)

The Making the Most of Masters initiative sources projects for masters programmes and links masters students from across the University with organisations to undertake three-month credit-bearing projects of mutual benefit. The projects, which are an integral part of the students’ academic programme, address real needs within organisations. They are adaptable across all disciplines and key economic areas in Scotland.

Employer Presentations & Careers Fairs

A wide range of organisations visit campus throughout the academic year. Students can sign-up for these events through CareerConnect.

The Careers and Employability Service organises a Law Fair during the Autumn term and collaborates with the Robert Gordon University to host the North of Scotland Universities Careers Fair, also held in the Autumn.
