Biography

BEc(SocSc)(Hons) LLB(Hons) University of Sydney, PhD King’s College London

Lecturer in Law within the School of Law, University of Aberdeen, formerly lecturer in law at the University of Southampton.

Marta researches in the areas of intellectual property and real property law. Her research is concerned particularly with the regulation of creativity including creativity and copyright in public spaces; non-legal norms for the regulation of creativity; the interface between real and intellectual property law especially as it relates to artistic works; and the classification objects in land law. Hart published her monograph on UK copyright law and graffiti norms, Copyright Beyond Law: Regulating Creativity in the Graffiti Subculture, in 2016.

Marta is on the Governing Board of the International Society for the History and Theory of Intellectual Property (ISHTIP).

Research Interests

Intellectual property law including art and copyright, creativity in public space, non-legal intellectual property norms, confidential information and national security

Real property law including the classification of objects in land law, comparative Scots and English land law
