Biography

I moved to the University of Aberdeen (Aug 2013) from the University of California, San Diego where I initially did my postdoctoral training with Professor Paul Insel in the Department of Pharmacology before joining the Department of Medicine as junior faculty.  Prior to my move to San Diego I obtained my undergraduate degree in Pharmacology at the University of Aberdeen, followed by my PhD at the University of Glasgow.

Research

Research Interests

The overall goal of my research is to examine the role of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP) signalling in disease, in particular the progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and  B- and T-cell lymphomas, to uncover novel therapeutic targets.  Model systems studied include cultured human lymphoma, pulmonary artery smooth muscle and pulmonary artery endothelial cells and models of disease.

Current Research

My current research focuses on the role of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) that we believe could be a novel target and possible circulating biomarker for PAH.  In addition I have an interest in the contribution of inflammation in PAH.
