Message to Erasmus and exchange students currently in-country
Dear student,
I am sure that you are aware of the heightened attention around Coronavirus (Covid-19). With the first case now confirmed in Scotland and with the global situation being very fluid and fast-changing, we want you to know that we are closely monitoring developments across the world.
We appreciate that, give you are currently studying abroad, this may be of particular concern to you as you are not in your home environment. We want you to know that we are here to support you in any way we can, and that there are resources available to you to help proactively monitor developments yourself.
Please familiarise yourself with the NHS guidelines regarding Covid-19. Guidance and information, including links to guidance for travellers and the general public, can also be found on Health Protection Scotland’s Covid-19 page.
Common symptoms of coronavirus include:
- high temperature or fever
- cough
- shortness of breath
The UK Government has also set up a dedicated Coronavirus page that you can view here.
We also strongly encourage you to follow any guidance being issued by your host institution; they will have your health and well-being as their priority. Please be mindful around travel. We do, of course, appreciate that one of the many beauties of being abroad is the travel, but do bear in mind that all non-essential travel is something to be reconsidered in the current climate. For anyone planning to travel, the latest UK Government advice can be found here. Where a Covid-19 risk is identified, FCO country pages will be updated.
If you feel uncomfortable at any time, or you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us; we are here to help where we can and your health, safety and well-being is always our priority.
