From the 21 August, we will be disabling the connection of any device that has not been active on the wired network for a period of three months or more.
This will apply to all wired networked devices, including workstations, laptops, printers, servers, etc.
Previously, we carried out this process for network devices that had been inactive for a period of six months or more.
Why are we doing this?
This is in direct response to security concerns surrounding recent ransomware attacks that have impacted all organisations, including the University of Aberdeen.
