Have you ever wondered what exactly bitcoin is? Who uses it, and how does it impact the real world economy? Delve into the fascinating world of cryptocurrencies and better understand the mystery surrounding them.

This talk will address issues such as economics of cryptocurrencies, private money, choice in currency, the nature of money, money and memory, and monetary policy.

Prior to his appointment as Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen in September 2013, Dr Marc Gronwald held an appointment as Economist at the ifo Institute, Munich. He obtained a diploma (master equivalent) degree in Economics from the University of Bielefeld, and his PhD. from the University of Hamburg. Marc is a member (fellow) of the CESifo Research Network and Research Associate of the ifo Center for Energy, Climate and Exhaustible Resources.
