Biography: Son of William Bey ; born Tarland, 24 August 1851 ; graduated M.B., 1876. After practising for some years near Salisbury, he went to Greytown, Wairarapa, New Zealand, where he practised till the time of his death. Volunteering had always been one of Bey's enthusiasms. He belonged to the N.Z. Volunteer Force from 1894-1909 ; and to the N.Z. Territorial Force from 1909-18, and he held the N.Z. Long and Efficient Service Medal and the V.D. From August 1914 to the date of his death Bey was M.O., N.Z. Reinforcement Training Camps at Featherston and Papawai. He died of pneumonia, contracted whilst on Military duty, in October 1918.
