Regiment: 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles
Biography: Son of David Anderson, farmer, North Loirston, Nigg ; born there, 24 February 1893; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School, took Agricultural Classes at the University during the sessions 1911-12 and 1912-13. In April 1913 he left for Canada to get further experience in pure stock raising and was with one of the foremost Shorthorn breeders in the Dominion. Anderson joined the Mounted Rifles at Toronto in September 1914, and in 1915 came to this country where he was for some time in training at Shorncliffe. A few months later he crossed to France and was wounded at Ypres in June 1916. After some months in hospital he went out again and was a member of a Signalling Section. Whilst in charge of forward lines during action at Passchendaele on 26 October 1917, he was killed in an attempt to repair some broken wires.
