Biography: Roman Catholic priest. Born into a well-established Lancashire gentry family. Entered the English College, Douai 1617. Ordained Cambrai 1622. College of Arras, Paris 1623. M.A., Paris University 1625. Almoner in the household of Michel de Marillac, remained with him til 1632. Helped establish the English convent of Our Lady of Syon in Paris, 1634. Rejoined Arras College, DTh. 1636. Briefly agent of the English Catholic clergy in Rome, 1638-early 1639. Visited London 1639-40, 1641-42. Taught theology at Paris. Pentientiary of St Nicolas-du-Chardonnet. Published work in the last decade of his life. Visited England 1661. Died Paris 1662.
