Biography: Book and art collector and connoisseur. Educated at Worcester, Eton 1756, matriculated Christ Church, Oxford 1763. Sent to Hamburg to learn business. Elected M.P. For Poole 1765-8, 1780-4 (lost his seat by 5 votes, by failing to get out of bed early enough to solicit the votes of 5 Quaker constituents). Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. Sold his books at auction 1784, prints 1786 (due to his inheritance running out). Died London 1786.
