Goad, Roger

Biography: College head. Born Horton, Buckinghamshire 1538. Educated Eton, then King's College, Cambridge (mat. 1555). Fellow of King's 1558, B.A. 1559/60, M.A. 1563. Ordained priest Ely 1565. BTh 1568/9, DTh 1576. Provost of King's College 1570. Lady Margaret professorship 1572. Accused of continuing predecessor's policies to the detriment of the college. Chancellor of the diocese of Wells 1577-89. Collated to the second prebend of Wedmore 1587-89. Prebend of St Decuman 1589. Vice-chancellor of Cambridge by 1595. Dissatisfaction with his management of college property 1602 (not without foundation), also his efforts to increase discipline in the college were met with resentment and this caused tension. Died Cambridge 1610.
