Entrepreneurship

By giving examples such as visiting and supporting social and environmental entrepreneurs and enterprises are ways of encouraging responsibility for society and the environment.

Understanding the reasons behind the creation of these enterprises may help highlight the importance and value that it can bring to the individual, a community, nation and in some cases, the world.

There are many examples of entrepreneurs with the objective to create a social or environmental good. The example given by SPE is the Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, founder of the microcredit organisation Grameen Bank. A bank that was successful in bringing financial services to poor women in Bangladesh. It allowed these women to become independent and set up their own businesses, helping them provide food, shelter and financial security for their families.
