About

Biography

Anna is a senior speciality registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Aberdeen and combines her clinical training with research and teaching. She currently holds a SCREDS clinical lecturer post in Musculoskeletal Sciences at Aberdeen Centre for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Health. https://www.abdn.ac.uk/acamh/

Anna’s PhD under supervision of Professor De Bari, Dr Roelofs and Mr Ashcroft focused on the Role of Yap in Mesenchymal Stem Cells of the synovium in the development of post traumatic osteoarthritis. The PhD project was funded through a STMTI Wellcome Trust funded fellowship.

Anna is originally from Germany where she went to school. Prior to coming to Aberdeen, Anna completed her undergraduate science training (BSc with Honours in Biochemistry) and in Medicine at the University of Dundee. She worked as a summer student and as an Honours student in Professor van Aaltens laboratory http://www.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/people/daan-van-aalten on solving the 3D structure of proteins using crystallography.

Outside of work Anna enjoys gardening and spending time with her working black Labrador, who can sometimes be found under her desk at work and in the hospital.
