This is a past event

Presenting rarely seen photographs from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, this online exhibition showcases the spaces women inhabited, from the studio to the golf course.

Aberdonian photographer George Washington Wilson applied his skill with a camera to capture images of women from all classes of society, including working women in the Western Isles carrying peat bags on their backs, female carriage drivers in South Australia, and wealthy ladies of Aberdeenshire.

This online exhibition contains some of the most striking photographs from the vast George Washington Wilson & Co. collection, bringing into focus aspects of women's lives - the hard labour they often undertook, as well as their means of entertainment and enjoyment - that have long been overlooked.
