Drama Group PosterWelcome to the German Programme

Did you know that after English, German is the most widely used language in Europe?

Studying German in Aberdeen will provide you with a very solid grounding in the German language. Amongst our staff are native speakers from German and Austria, who will introduce you to the cultures of the German-speaking world. You will encounter the world of German artistic expression in the form of literature, film and art. And you will gain a deeper understanding of Germany’s complex history

At Aberdeen, you can study German as a complete beginner, or build on prior knowledge of the language, and both streams can lead to either a single German MA Honours degree or a joint MA Honours degree with a large number of possible combinations

The German Drama Group offers a brilliant opportunity for students of German to meet German students studying in Aberdeen (have a lot of fun, produce a play every year, and put their widening language skills to the test). Plays performed in the past were by highly respected 20th century dramatists such as Dürrenmatt, Borchert and Horváth.

German graduates move to a wide range of challenging jobs in the UK, and abroad. Recent graduates are working in industry, politics, the EU administration, local government, and teaching. Others engage in further study in the UK or abroad. And here is some more information about job prospects for people who can Talk the Talk. Be inspired!
