A talk by Jon Reid (Creative Aberdeen)

This talk will share insight into Jon's creative journey uncovering the secret histories and lives of artists working in the Granite City. For the past 15 years he's been documenting and engaging with creatives working across the arts sector, from emerging talents at Gray's School of Art to well-established painters with impressive studio practices. Of course, there are a lot of cracks in between these two extremes: the city's graffiti writers, for example, who don't seek our validation or the outsider artists who fly under the radar of the big institutions, is their contribution any less valuable? And there are also the creative spaces and studios which support many artists and are a valuable cog in the city's creative footprint. Creativity exists in many forms, often in isolation or creative bubbles, so how can we support and engage with it in a meaningful way?

Jon Reid is an artist and blogger based in Aberdeen. As well as his online presence with Creative Aberdeen, Jon is also a key member of the team who bring the Nuart street art festival to the city each year.
