CISRUL talk: Alejandra Mancilla

This is a past event

On Wednesday, March 28th, at 2pm in the Old Senate Room, CISRUL will be hosting Alejandra Mancilla of the University of Oslo to talk about her recent work, The Right of Necessity.  This work draws on accounts of justice by thinkers such as Aquinas, canon lawyers, and early modern rights theorists.  Mancilla applies their reflections about cases where the property rights of the rich are trumped by the subsistence rights of the poor to argue for a different paradigm of conceiving contemporary global justice.

Professor Mancilla has generously provided us with the first chapter of the work for those who want to read ahead (attached here along with a flyer with more details about the presentation).

It would be great to have as many people as possible come along.  We're hoping for a lively discussion with as broad a selection of our university community as possible participating.  Hope to see you there!
