REF 2021

1st in the UK

Divinity at the University of Aberdeen was ranked 1st in the UK for overall quality of research

We hope our former students and colleagues regard themselves as ongoing, life-long members of the University’s Divinity Department. We are proud to list so many notable theologians and church people from around the world among our former students and colleagues, as well as those who have gone off to careers in teaching, charitable work, the law, the civil service, and so many other fields.

We are always keen to hear from our former students and colleagues. Please do get in touch with your details so we can ensure you hear about the exciting things that are going on in the department.

Reverend Mary Whittaker

Reverend Mary Whittaker, Scotland's first Deaf minister, graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Divinity in 2017. She conducts services using British Sign Language (BSL) and her parish covers thousands of square miles from Perth to Shetland and Aberdeen to the Outer Hebrides and Skye. In this video, Mary (and her hearing dog Scott) returned to the Divinity Library in King's College to tell us a bit about her time studying here and to pass on some advice to today's Deaf students:
