The University's Lighthouse Field Station was established in Cromarty, in the Higlands of Scotland, to support School of Biological Sciences marine research and teaching in the Moray Firth.

Our work has focussed on studies of marine mammals and their interactions with the wide range of human activities that occur in these coastal waters; from offshore energy developments to wildlife tourism.

The Field Station's Highland location has facilitated strong links between the University and a broad suite of stakeholders within the region, including schools, environmental management organizations and local industry.

Aberdeen-based students also have opportunities to visit the Field Station for residential field courses or to undertake research projects.
