Self-knowledge and daily practices for mental health
Anna Dako, RSME/T (registered somatic movement educator and therapist), Dr Caroline Gatt, anthropologist and laboratory theatre practitioner, Valeria Lembo, anthropologist, musician and laboratory theatre practitioner.
In this workshop we invite participants to work with practical tasks from performance training and somatic therapy. We will work with awakening the skin as an active sensorium, imagination and play as well as sound and breathing. Drawing on these tasks we will explore how attentive movement and breathing relate to senses of self, self-care and wellbeing in the context of our experiences of studying, research and work in the university.
Participants are asked to come wearing clothes they will be comfortable moving in. We will be working either barefoot or with socks on.
Limited places available.
To reserve a place please contact Dr Anthony Anagboso on caanagboso@abdn.ac.uk or Ext. 3414.
