The Space in-between Things: An Exploration of the Practices of Anthropology and Clinical Work in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy
Abstract: This reflects on the significance of the metaphor of the ‘space between things’ for psychotherapeutic practice. Developing a contrast with the ‘case study’ method of examination for clinical practice, the thinking piece suggests that greater use of ethnographic and anthropological methods within therapeutic work will give therapists greater sensitivity to the potentials of this metaphor.
