AFG College with the University of Aberdeen is an established and exciting higher education partnership forged in 2017. The partnership has created the first UK University in the State of Qatar offering mainstream degrees outside   of Qatar Foundation. We celebrated our first cohort of graduates in 2019 and have seen significant growth in student numbers. We are committed to supporting the Aberdeen 2040 agenda https://www.abdn.ac.uk/2040/ in addition to the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Job Description

AFG College wish to recruit well-rounded academics with specialisation in the following academic discipline of Finance and Accountancy. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their significant experience in teaching in Higher Education (HE), recognised academic and teaching qualifications and sustained academic or professional engagement activities.

It is desirable for candidates to hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in a related discipline. However, professionals who do not possess a PhD but hold a relevant Master’s degree and significant industry experience are encouraged to apply. Applicants will have a track record of university teaching and learning and/or experience of training, educating and mentoring the development of others. Ideally candidates will have a teaching qualification, a recognition by AdvanceHE or be willing to work towards their membership of a relevant Higher Education Professional Body.

Transnational education experience will be an advantage for all applicants. The ability to teach in more than one discipline-related area is essential. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, successful candidates will also be expected to participate in the administration of the programmes, actively engage with industry and in relevant scholarship activities. Knowledge of the profession and links to industry will enhance the expectation that candidates will collaborate with other research faculty within the partnership and in the wider academic community in their area of expertise.

How to apply: To submit a completed application please ensure the below documents are included:
  • Covering letter which highlights your suitability for the role
  • Completed AFG College application form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Statement of your teaching philosophy

The closing date for receipt of applications is 18 December 2024

Appointments will be made based on qualifications, HE teaching & learning (T&L) experience and ability to demonstrate academic leadership in T&L, scholarship, research and administrative contribution.

AFG College with the University of Aberdeen offer attractive expatriate packages commensurate with similar opportunities within the international higher education sector.
