The Department of Computing Science within the School of Natural and Computing Sciences is seeking to recruit an experienced leader and disciplinary scholar . This appointment will be, based on experience, at the Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor level. The academic focus of this role will be on Teaching and Scholarship and offers a superb opportunity for an educational focused academic to develop their career.

Job Description

The expectation is that the successful applicant will take on the role of Head of Computing Science with line management responsibilities for the 24 academic staff and oversight of their wide-ranging activities. The Department has seen sustained investment in recent years and has a long track-record of research with core groups in Machine Learning, NLG, Cybersecurity, Human Centered Computing and Autonomous Agents. Research in Computing Science also draws in a further 20 staff who teach on our Aberdeen-South China Normal University Joint Institute. Our Aberdeen based teaching revolves around general Computer Science, as well as more specialised undergraduate and postgraduate degrees covering Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity; we strive to embed our research within our teaching.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 8, £58,596 – £65,814 per annum for a Senior Lecturer or Reader, or Grade 9, £67,757 - £76,127 per annum for a Professor, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
