The National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) is looking to expand its current team with a to champion the use of the University’s Safe Haven data sharing platform for secure data sharing in the oil and gas and decommissioning sectors and to provide the basis for a digital model of the U.K. continental shelf basin.

This is an exciting new post within the NDC supported by the School of Natural and Computing Sciences and the Directorate of Digital & Information Services, Digital Research team and funded by the Scottish Government’s Decommissioning Challenge Fund. The post has been developed to explore the adaptation and extension of the secure access protocols for data sharing and analysis from the health sector to the oil and gas sector to support better access of data to relevant parties and consequently facilitate better decision making.
The role will see you being responsible for facilitating engagement between academic researchers within the University and the oil and gas and decommissioning sectors to frame the stakeholders’ data needs and required access protocols to permit to allow users with different requirements and distinct data ownership levels differentiated and auditable access to data for analysis and decision-making.
You will work closely with Ms Katie Wilde, Research IT Manager, Professor Wamberto Vasconcelos in Computing Sciences, and the NDC team to scope the interactions and identify the stakeholders required for the project, collect and collate data and interview responses and assist in implementing a new platform with the required data provisions and access protocols. Ideally you will have some experience of the oil and gas sector.
Salary will be paid at the rate of £33,797 per annum on Grade 6 of the University Salary Scale.
As this post is funded by the Scottish Government Decommissioning challenge Fund it is available for 12 months.
