Job Description

The School wishes to appoint a 9-month Part- Time Teaching Fellow (0.8 FTE) in the History of Art Department from 1 September 2020.

Applicants should have a demonstrable teaching and research focus in modern and/or contemporary art. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching across the art history programme and developing a specialist honours course focusing on twentieth and/or twenty-first-century art. The appointment will be made at teaching fellowship level but with the expectation that applicants will have an academic research profile of demonstrable excellence, commensurate to experience.

The School offers a wide range of undergraduate courses leading to an MA (without honours) after three years or, more usually, a single or joint honours MA after four years. The School houses the largest body of postgraduate students within the University

The main purpose of this role is to fulfil undergraduate teaching and supervision requirements, within the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy and to contribute, where appropriate, to the research environment of the School. An important part of this post will be participation in the continuing development and delivery of the History of Art programme at Aberdeen. The successful candidate will be expected to have a demonstrable ability to teach twentieth and twenty-first century art, and to contribute broadly to the undergraduate teaching programme in History of Art.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 salary scale.

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 12 month probation period.
