Assessing DNA preservation and biological sex in Pictish Faunal Remains

Assessing DNA preservation and biological sex in Pictish Faunal Remains

This project focuses on interdisciplinary ancient DNA research on faunal remains from Pictish archaeological sites and contexts. It brings together different areas of expertise (archaeology, archaeozoology, stable isotopes, and ancient DNA) and will generate next-generation shotgun sequencing data from up to 20 samples from key Pictish archaeological sites. It is the first ancient DNA project to be completed fully in-house (i.e. relying on UoA services and infrastructure such as CGEBM and the Maxwell HPC).
