HA408A: FIELDWORK 2 (2018-2019)

Last modified: 22 May 2019 17:07

Course Overview

In Fieldwork 2, you will continue your study of works of art and architecture in situ by undertaking a final fieldtrip. This can be as part of a tutor-led group visit, to Paris for example, or as a planned and agreed independent trip. You will complete your Flog with reflections on summer activities and then begin selecting the material for your Fieldwork ePortfolio.  Unlike the Flog, this must be written in an academic style and will give you the opportunity to show how your thoughts and ideas as an art historian have been developing throughout the course. Course Description

Fieldwork 2 continues the study of works of art and architecture in situ. A core element of the second part of this course is participating in an agreed, planned fieldtrip during one week in the first half-session, which could, for example, be to Paris. As at Level 3, students record and reflect upon their planned and independent visits in their Flog (Fieldwork Log). Selected reflections, reviews and analyses of works seen and public lectures attended during both parts of the Fieldwork course are presented in an ePortfolio, which forms the summative assignment of the course, and is written in an academic style.

Associated Costs

Tutor-Led Fieldwork Visit to Paris (subject to minimum number)

Optional Residential Group Visit or Independent Fieldwork Visit

Paris in Week 8 of the 1st session - bed and breakfast accommodation [5 days and 4 nights] cost £95.00 in AY2017-18
(Students to make their own travel arrangements)

Students who opt to undertake an independent fieldwork visit to make their own travel/accommodation arrangements.
