Course Overview

Counselling psychologists work with adults and children on a diverse range of issues, including bereavement, relationships, and mental health problems. This course will introduce students to the key issues, theories and practices relevant in Counselling Psychology.

Course Description

This course will provide students with a broad understanding of the theory and practice of counselling psychologists. Students will be aware of the theory, values and historical development of counselling psychology; an understanding of issues surrounding the therapeutic relationship; a critical awareness of the scientific/reflective-practitioner models; an overview of the main therapeutic traditions; understanding of the therapists role in a range of common presentations.
