Course Overview

Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) are used to test the effectiveness of interventions. The aim of this course is to take a student through the process of designing RCTs. The course will focus on RCTs in the evaluation of real world healthcare and public health settings.

Course Description

This course will take a student through the process of designing RCTs. The course aims to give the student detailed knowledge of the appropriate use of trials, alternative trial designs, recruiting and randomising participants, inclusion and exclusion criteria, blinding, multiple outcomes, feasibility studies and the role of clinical trials units.


Details, including assessments, may be subject to change until 31 August 2023 for 1st half-session courses and 22 December 2023 for 2nd half-session courses.
